John Walter earned his Bachelor of Business Administration (cum laude) from Georgia State University in 2010. After graduating, John worked for a software company in Atlanta prior to moving to Los Angeles. Shortly after moving to Los Angeles, John began working with Friends Research Institute, first as a Research Assistant in 2017, transitioning to Program Coordinator in 2022, and assuming his current role as Program Manager in 2024, where he oversees all the service programs implemented at Friends Community Center. John has spent over six years working with LGBTQI+ populations that are experiencing disparities from a combination of housing instability, food scarcity, substance use disorders, and mental health disorders. In 2022, John was awarded the Paul Andrew Starke Warrior Award from the City of West Hollywood for his outstanding service in working with those living with/at risk of HIV.
