Dr. Jan Gryczynski Selected as Vice President of FRI
FRI is pleased to announce that Dr. Jan Gryczynski was selected to be FRI’s Vice President, effective November 27, 2024. In his role as Vice President, Dr. Gryczynski will join the President, Chief Operating Officer, and Medical Director on the Executive Management Committee, where he will contribute to organizational strategy and the development and execution of FRI’s policies and procedures.
Dr. Gryczynski is currently a Senior Research Scientist at FRI, where he leads a diverse portfolio of research on substance use services. He has worked at FRI for over 18 years, having first joined the organization as a predoctoral research assistant. Over the years, his work has spanned the continuum of substance use problems and focused on a variety of populations and service settings. He has worked on studies in the broad areas of substance use screening, behavioral interventions, medication treatment for opioid use disorder (OUD), treatment effectiveness, implementation science, and patient perspectives on drug use and treatment. Much of his recent work has investigated ways to improve care for vulnerable patients with OUD. He is currently leading several NIDA-funded studies, including a hybrid implementation-effectiveness trial of an adapted NavSTAR intervention for medically complex hospital patients with OUD, a randomized trial of treatment linkage strategies for people with OUD, a comparative effectiveness trial of long-acting injectable OUD medications for individuals involved with the criminal justice system, and a large-scale health services study of methadone regulatory reform. In addition, Dr. Gryczynski is a Co-Founder of COG Analytics, a research and technology incubator formed in partnership with FRI in 2012.
