Dr. Courtney Nordeck Receives Promotion to Research Scientist
FRI is pleased to announce Dr. Courtney Nordeck’s promotion to the position of Research Scientist, in recognition of her scientific accomplishments and contributions to multiple FRI research studies. Dr. Nordeck first joined FRI 12 years ago. In her early years at the Institute, she worked as the Lead Site Coordinator for the NIDA CTN TAPS study (CTN 0059), Quality Assurance Monitor, and Project Manager on the Navigation Services to Avoid Rehospitalization (NavSTAR) trial. After earning her doctorate in Public Mental Health from the Johns Hopkins School of Public Health, she was promoted to Assistant Research Scientist. Since then she has worked as Co-Investigator on several NIDA-funded clinical trials, including an implementation-effectiveness trial of NavSTAR in four Philadelphia hospitals (Philly NavSTAR), a clinical trial of treatment linkage strategies for people with untreated opioid use disorder recruited from sexual health clinics and the community (OUTLAST-B), and a multi-site study of services for patients hospitalized for injection-related infections (CHOICE-STAR). She is also PI of a study to evaluate peer recovery coach services in hospital Emergency Departments. Dr. Nordeck’s prior work has spanned studies of patient navigation and care coordination for people with substance use disorders, low-threshold community-based treatment settings, substance use epidemiology, validation of substance use measures, and interventions. FRI congratulates Dr. Nordeck on her achievements and wishes her continued success in her career.
