Dr. Mishka Terplan Receives an SBIR Subaward
FRI is pleased to announce that Dr. Mishka Terplan has received a three-year Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) subaward from Oregon Research Behavioral Intervention Strategies for the project titled “VisitBoost: A Home Visiting Enhancement to Reduce Harm for Families Affected by Substance Use.” VisitBoost is an evidence-informed training and implementation program designed to help home visitors better support pregnant and postpartum parents affected by substance use. The program addresses stigma, knowledge gaps, and confidence while promoting best practices for building trusting relationships, connecting families with effective treatment and recovery services, and supporting child health and safety. Building on promising Phase I results, the Phase II study will evaluate VisitBoost’s effectiveness in improving home visitor practices, increasing treatment utilization and recovery capital among parents, and supporting sustainable implementation across home visiting organizations.
