Tori is originally from Chicago. She obtained a B.A. in Psychology from the University of Iowa and an M.A. in Counseling Psychology from Bowie State University. She has spent several years working health care in various roles and later obtained her license as a Licensed Graduate Professional Counselor (LGPC) and employed as a Mental Health Therapist. As a therapist, she has worked with clients on recovery from substance use, addressing mental health conditions, and other life challenges and transitions. Her master’s thesis was titled “The Impact of COVID-19 on Persons in Recovery from Substance Use Disorders in Urban Communities” which furthered her interest in psychological research. Her research interests are of social justice, substance use, post-traumatic stress, and minority issues.
