Research Interests

Preeha holds a bachelor’s degree in Neuroscience with honors, and minors in Chemistry, Molecular and Cellular Biology, and Studio Arts. She graduated from New York University in May 2024. Over the past three years, Preeha has gained extensive clinical experience, working primarily as a research assistant at the Glimcher Lab at NYU Neuroscience Institute on a patient-facing clinical trial for individuals with Opioid Use Disorder. She also interned at the New York City Free Clinic. At Glimcher Lab, Preeha contributed to a clinical trial focusing on an intervention designed to assist those with Opioid Use Disorder and other mental health diagnoses. During her internship at the New York City Free Clinic, which provides free healthcare to uninsured patients, Preeha gained valuable insight into the challenges faced by patients in clinical settings.

Currently, Preeha works as a Research Assistant with Dr. Babak Tofighi on R34 trial, collaborating with the Nathan Kline Institute, NYU School of Medicine, and Weill Cornell. This trial evaluates the effectiveness of combining peer recovery coach support with mobile health to reduce racial disparities in treatment access for Black and Latino/a individuals with illicit opioid use. Preeha is particularly interested in clinical interventions aimed at mitigating harmful opioid use, improving retention in Opioid Use Disorder treatment, and optimizing outcomes for patients stabilized on OUD medications.
