Kelly Merkel is a licensed clinical professional counselor (LCPC). She has been with Epoch Counseling Center since 2013, when she started as a graduate intern at the Essex office. Ms. Merkel now serves as the Assistant Coordinator of Epoch and provides clinical supervision to the peer support specialists and school-based counseling staff. Additionally, she provides individual and group therapy to adolescents and adults.
Ms. Merkel earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Psychology and Sociology at Salisbury University and a Master of Arts in Counseling Psychology from Towson University. She was involved in the treatment of substance use disorders through Avatar online counseling working with researchers from Friends Research Institute, Inc. to provide remote therapeutic services. Ms. Merkel is a certified supervisor and clinician in an evidenced based treatment model called the Adolescent Community Reinforcement Approach (A-CRA) which promotes health and wellness in the treatment of substance use and co-occurring disorders.
