Research Interests

Kaitlyn Garrison received her bachelor’s degree from the University of Central Florida in Interdisciplinary Studies, where she focused on public health and anthropology. She is currently pursuing a Master’s of Public Health online from the University College Cork. Her research interests include infectious disease prevention and Environmental Health.

At FRI, Kaitlyn is working with Dr. Mitchell and Dr. Monico on the Examining the Effectiveness of the FaCES Adolescent SBIRT study, testing the effectiveness of adolescent Screening, Brief Intervention, and Referral to Treatment (SBIRT) in primary care settings. She is currently working on study recruitment and follow-up in one of the Tennessee clinic site locations. During her time at FRI, Kaitlyn has also completed projects for various other studies across FRI, including a randomized trial of interim methadone and patient navigation initiated in jail. Most recently she has been working with Dr. Mitchell on projects assessing the integration of HIV risk reduction into the SBIRT model, allowing her to pursue her public health research interests at FRI.
