Brief Biography

Joshua Rusow is a Ph.D. candidate at the University of Southern California, Suzanne Dworak-Peck School of Social Work, where he also earned his Master’s in Social Work degree. Joshua’s research focus on the reduction of mental, behavioral, and sexual health disparities among sexual and gender minority (e.g., LGBTQ+) adolescents. His qualifying examination, “Digital Sexuality and Offline Sexual Behavior among High School Adolescents” documented how technology engagement and online sexuality (e.g., partner seeking and sexting) are associated with offline sexual behaviors among diverse sexual and gender minority adolescents. Joshua is currently the Project Director of TechStep, a stepped-care randomized control trial to increase HIV prevention efforts among HIV-negative transgender youth.
