Research Interests

Jennifer Brooks received her bachelor’s degree from Virginia Commonwealth University in Psychology. While attending VCU she worked as a Research Assistant in the African American Studies Department, focusing on Tobacco in Black communities. Jennifer comes with experience in substance use and working in at-risk communities.

At FRI, Jennifer is working with Dr. Mitchell on a NIDA Clinical Trials Network study that is funded by the HEAL initiative (Helping to End Addiction Longterm) to examine the effects of an intervention that uses a collaborative care model to reduce risky opioid use among patients. Jennifer’s research interests focus on investigating the psychosocial determinants of health and substance use in Black communities.
