Cronn Chavez received his bachelor’s degree with honors in sociology from Western New Mexico University. Previously, Cronn worked as a coordinator assistant for the Youth Substance Abuse Prevention Coalition, a local organization in his home town of Silver City, NM, which worked to create programs and policy changes to reduce and prevent adolescent substance abuse.
At FRI, Cronn is working as a Research Assistant with Dr. Shannon Gwin Mitchell and Dr. Laura Monico on the Examining the Effectiveness of the FaCES Adolescent SBIRT study, which seeks to test the effectiveness of Screening, Brief Intervention, and Referral to Treatment (SBIRT) for adolescents in primary care to reduce and prevent substance use. He is currently working on study recruitment and follow-up in one of the New Mexico clinic site locations.
